Anonymity in Early Modern England. ‘What’s In A Name?’
This new collection brings together a range of essays on the idea and practice of anonymity in Early Modern England. Taking its cue from Marcy L. North’s seminal The Anonymous Renaissance: Cultures of Discretion in Tudor-Stuart England (Chicago, 2003), the volume sets out a series of positions that recast anonymity as a deliberate and meaningful strategy for signing texts in the early modern period.
