Charles Boberg: The English Language in Canada. Status, History and Comparative Analysis
Canadian English has been described in a series of classic book publications which, however, have become dated by now, failing to reflect recent scholarship and also substantial changes in Canada’s society, culture, and linguistic usage. In contrast, the book under review provides a fresh, admirably rich and informative and impressively comprehensive coverage of its subject, grounded in modern sociolinguistic theory and practice, and also substantially building upon novel research specifically carried out for this volume.
