Die Lust zu fabulieren

Märchenhaftes Erzählen im frühen 20. Jahrhundert

Der Beitrag untersucht das Fabulieren in Psychiatrie, Psychologie und Literatur um 1900 und diskutiert anhand von Erzähltexten von Salomo Friedlaender/Mynona und Paul Scheerbart deren Verfahren, Märchen und Sprüche zu variieren, zu verkehren und zum Ausgangspunkt unglaublicher Geschichten zu machen. Entgegen der Tendenz, im Fabulieren die Ausprägung primitiven, inferioren und pathologischen Erzählens zu erblicken, stellen die „Perversion“ der Volksdichtung zur „Groteske“ bei Mynona sowie Scheerbarts visionäre Entwürfe die Erneuerung eines literarischen Fabulierens als fingierte Mündlichkeit dar.

This article examines the telling of fantastic stories in psychiatry, psychology and literature around 1900 and discusses, based on the narrative texts of Salomo Friedlaender/Mynona and Paul Scheerbart, the methods these authors used to adapt and distort fairy tales and sayings and to make them the starting point of incredible stories. Contrary to the tendency to see the telling of imaginative stories as an expression of a primitive, inferior and pathological narrative, the “perversion” of folk poetry to “grotesque” forms in Mynona and Scheerbart’s visionary designs represent the renewal of a literary storytelling as fictitious orality.
