Jane Austen: Pride and Prejudice. An Annotated Edition
‘Bulky and not reader-friendly’, are my thoughts as I try to control Spacks’s edition in an Economy airplane seat on a night flight from Europe to South East Asia. My neighbour glances occasionally at both Austen and academic but stays politely silent while I turn page after page – not an easy endeavour, I may add, as the foldable table is smaller than the book and I am scrutinizing and taking notes at the same time, working away under the bright and yet so inadequate glow provided by the overhead reading lamp.
