MAPPING (Managing Alternatives for Privacy, Property and Internet Governance)

Extraordinary General Assembly – Rome, May 20–21, 2014 Conference Minutes

Rome – the eternal city – was chosen as the location for the kick-off session of the MAPPING project. MAPPING stands for Managing Alternatives for Privacy, Property and Internet Governance and is a project funded by the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for a period of four years. It aims at bringing together professionals, academics and other stakeholders to address the issues codified in the title. The 1st Extraordinary General Assembly, hosted at the social club of the Italian Airforce, served as a platform for various thematic presentations, workshops, panel discussions and last but not least networking opportunities. It was the first of its kind and in the words of Joseph Cannataci, the project coordinator of MAPPING, the starting point for many more debates, conferences and meetings. Nearly 130 people from various countries were present during the two days.
