Sarah Cardwell: Adaptation Revisited. Television and the Classic Novel.

The orchid thief John Laroche in the film Adaptation by Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman from 2002 points out: “Adaptation is a profound process.” He is right: Adaptation, both biological and cultural, is a contested but productive concept across the disciplines. We may be reminded of the fact that adaptation is necessary for survival by Adaptation as well as by the reference to Stephen J. Gould in Sarah Cardwell’s Adaptation Revisited (p. 13).
