Resultative Prädikate, Verbpartikeln und eine konstruktionsgrammatische Überlegung

Resultative Prädikate im Deutschen verhalten sich in vielerlei Hinsicht ähnlich wie Verbpartikeln. Sie weisen viele morphosyntaktische und semantische Parallelitäten auf, wie Klammerbildung, Topikalisierung zusammen mit Partizip II, Argumentänderung der Basisverben usw. Viele von ihnen sind in unterschiedlichem Maße lexikalisiert und idiomatisiert wie frei/schuldig-sprechen, tot/nieder-schlagen usw. Eine semantische Ähnlichkeit zwischen resultativen Prädikaten und Verbpartikeln besteht darin, dass ein Resultatszustand in Resultativkonstruktionen durch ein resultatives Prädikat und in Partikelverbbildungen durch eine Verbpartikel eingebracht wird.

Auf Grundlage der Abbildung von Goldberg (1995, S. 189) wird eine Erklärung des konstruktionsgrammatischen Ansatzes für Resultativkonstruktionen und Partikelverbbildungen vorgeschlagen. Hierbei wird dargelegt, wie die Partizipanten-Rollen von den Konstruktionen eingebettet und lizenziert werden, wie das vom resultativen Prädikat oder von der Partikel eingebettete Patiensargument zuerst durch die Subjektanhebung und dann durch die Gleiche-NP-Tilgung oder durch die Argument-Unterdrückung lizenziert wird. Die vergleichbaren Eigenschaften der resultativen Prädikate und der Verbpartikeln sprechen eindeutig für eine Tendenz zur Komplexbildung von resultativen Prädikaten und Matrixverben, was eine Bereicherung der Wortbildung darstellt.

Resultative predicates in German behave similarly to verb particles in many ways. They exhibit numerous morphosyntactic and semantic parallels, like frame structure, topicalisation with the past participle, argument change in the base verbs, etc. Many of them are lexicalised and idiomatic in varying degrees, e.g. frei/schuldig-sprechen, tot/nieder-schlagen, etc. A semantic similarity between resultative predicates and verb particles exists in the fact that a resulting condition is brought about by a resultative predicate in resultative constructions and by a verb particle in particle-verb constructions.

The article suggests an explanation of the construction-grammar approach to resultative constructions and particle verb formations on the basis of the illustration by Goldberg (1995, p. 189). It is shown how the participant roles of the constructions are embedded and licensed by the constructions, how the patient argument embedded by the resultative predicate or the particle is licensed first by subject raising then by identical NP-deletion or argument suppression. The comparable characteristics of the resultative predicates and verb particles speak clearly for a tendency towards complex forms of resultative predicates and matrix verbs, which represents an enrichment of word-formation.
